10th Fix

[Phone: filtered from NPCs:]

Hey, guys! Just wanted to let ya'll know that the forge in my yard has been ready to go. It ain't much, but it does the trick. Not too bad for a guy who's never even seen one outside of a Renaissance Fair if I do say so myself! Thing is, I've never built anythin' like swords or whatever before. Computers and electronics are more my thing. So's there anyone out there who does? I collected some scrap metal from cars and such around here to use. Be glad we're in the 50s, when cars were actually still made outta metal. We can start meltin' 'em down and stuff, but I dunno what to make the hilts or whatever out of, or... well, anythin' else about aswords. I hate to say it, but I'm a little stumped on where to go from here.

[Action:
Quinn's been in a great mood ever since he got the courage to open up his latest regain. It's one of his favorite guilty pleasures, mostly because through his technomancy, iPads are fun to talk to. He can be found walking around town with it, sitting with it at the diner, or in the high school faculty break room... however, he doesn't even need to touch it to have it do anything. Apps and images zoom by without him needing to move a muscle, thanks to his ability. He looks positively tickled to have this thing back. And he's so absorbed in it, he might not hear you talking to him at first, or he might walk right into you. It's a good thing he's so tall, so you can see him coming...]

They're out best bet, really. I figure we can practically farm 'em like I've been doin' with the bumpers. It's pretty much a never-endin' supply.

[identity profile] ergaleomancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Electricity is terrible, though. It's banned in my world, and I can't wait to get away from it.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
What, seriously? Why? Man, ya'd hate my world then. I mean, it's pretty much like this place, but way in the future. I'm from 2010.

[identity profile] ergaleomancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm from 2010 as well, but it's not like this at all. Nor were the fifties like this. After Tesla's demonstrations, it's clear that electricity's only practical application is as a death ray.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, we come from exceedingly different places. But I can tell ya, ya'll didn't give Tesla enough credit. I guess that's neither here nor there. Electricity's what we got, and electricity's what I know.

[identity profile] prodigious-mage.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh.

. . . Hey, actually, I kinda want to try that with a flan.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, I better keep my mouth closed before I give ya more crazy ideas.

[identity profile] prodigious-mage.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I bet it'd blow up to the size of a blimp. They're all blobby and watery inside already.

Where're the monsters when you want 'em?

[identity profile] ergaleomancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I hate the stuff. It's horrible to work with.

[identity profile] beamiracle.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm sure there's plenty of equipment here. And luckily you can play badminton inside.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that's right, there's like a rec center or somethin'. Sweet deal. [This is Quinn; what is exercise.]

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well good luck gettin' steam in this place, darlin'. Though, I bet if ya make some kinda wood furance, it'd work. There's plenty of that 'round here.

[identity profile] ergaleomancer.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I prefer to work with pure clockwork. It's not as heavy duty, but...finesse outpaces brute strength anyway.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Guitar. Not yet, but he will be.

[An MP3 begins to play on the computer of a beautiful, soft voice singing this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaEh2RKCDPc). There's something almost hypnotic about it.]

He's got an incredibly powerful hypnotic voice ability. So powerful that he can't even turn it off on his own.

[identity profile] thief-of-truth.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Kay listens up to a point, smiling. But then...]

Hypnotic?!

[She gasps, clapping her hands over her ears.]

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Then we best get to work on some gear molds then! You're welcome anytime, darlin'.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Relax! Ain't like there's a subliminal message or somethin'. And it ain't nearly as strong over a recording anyway.

[identity profile] thief-of-truth.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Are you sure...?

[Slooooowly and cautiously removing her hands from her ears.]

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Positive. Micky's about the nicest kid ya'd ever want to meet, anyway. Most of the time the kid never talks cuz he's too afraid of messin' with folks' heads.

[identity profile] thief-of-truth.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Aw... that sounds sad.

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he's got it pretty tough, but if he ever gets that ability under control, he'll be king of the world.

[identity profile] thief-of-truth.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Not that he'd want to be, though. Right?

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Not a chance! Hey may have the voice of an angel, but he doesn't even have the guts to sing for more than half a dozen people. I don't think we have to worry about hailin' almighty overlord Micky Hatch any time soon.

[identity profile] thief-of-truth.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
He'd need a better overlord name anyway. Micky Hatch doesn't really strike fear, y'know?

[identity profile] techno-mancer.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, but it's got a great ring to it for a musician.
