[Today was a good day for Mr. Quinn Hatch. Not only was his technomancy waiting for him under the tree this morning, but there was a package on the porch for him as well. It contained a totally bitchin' turntable set inside! Quinn is positively giddy with these, and as a result today you'll find him:

A) In the garage, rocking the neighborhood out. He had his music laptop returned to him last time, and he has it hooked up to his turntable. He's gotten some vinyls from the record store too. So you'll be hearing all different kinds of music coming from his house today. He's having an absolute blast in there.

B) In the different stores, and around his house and the town, talking to various appliances and machinery. Yes, talking. Quinn can communicate with them with his powers, and now that he has them back, he has some catching up to do. He's cheerfully chatting up toasters, cars, lampposts, his computer, anything. Yes, he knows how strange this looks, but he also doesn't give a damn.]

Scotty did? He's a good guy. Any specific reason, or just to come and chill out?

I don't play any instruments, but I was interested in this band, sort of . . . I'm very good with machines and electronics, so I thought that if you needed someone to, I dunno, work on amps, I could help.

[She seems very interested in all the gear he has, looking at it curiously.]

Oh yeah? Sounds good to me. I'm still workin' on collectin' some amps and stuff from the school. I got one of my laptops and surround sound systems from home here, and I just got my turntable back too. We're gonna rock this town down, man!

I can imagine there might be trouble if you make too much noise. [She almost sounds pleased at the prospect.]

Yeah, some people have come by and complained. Some little chick from down the street came over and just started whalin' on my laptop with her fists! I managed to shoo 'er off though.

But if ya ask me, it's a welcome change of pace 'round here. Too quiet for me.

THat seems extreme.

Is there anything you need me to do? I can build a lot of things. Mostly weapons, really. But I'm a scientist and doctor, so . . .

Yeah? That's pretty cool! Weapons are... out of my league. Still learnin'. See, seems there are a lotta folks in town who want swords, so I got it in my head to build a forge. I uh, am a little overwhelmed with it though. Plus we lack a lotta good materials in town, so it's on the backburner for now. [He points at a heap of bricks and scrap metal sitting in the corner.]

For now I'm okay, but once we get a gig together somewhere, I was thinkin' I could use some help with the set up.

I could show you how sometime if you like. I managed to build a junk launcher so far here without killing myself. Almost, but didn't.

[Is mesmerized with the pile of scrap!] Scrap metal! [She is immediately going over there to look at it.]

Setting up at an event? Yeah, I could help there . . .

Oh yah, help yourself. I just been pullin' 'em off cars, so it's not like we'll ever run out.

Me 'n' Scotty were thinkin' of hosting a Valentine's Day party. Ya know, a big ol' party, no drones invited, somethin' for everyone to relax and have a good time at. And me and Scott can provide the music!

You have no idea how valuable this is where I come from. This is like finding a treasure. I guess it's not so valuable here. [She laughs.]

Hmm. Speaking of Scott, what do you know about him?

Scotty? Well, he likes music 'n' video games, plays bass, and is adorably enthusiastic about everythin'. Why?

[She's still examining the scrap metal.]

I was just wondering, he seemed a bit eccentric when I first met him. Of course, I can't blame him for being upset about being here.

. . . Did he tell you he headbutted someone into coins?

[He laughs at that.] Sounds like ol' Scott's got too heavy of a diet of video games.

Yeah, that's probably it. [Laughs.] What's your world like?

It's pretty good, I guess. Hard to describe it when you don't got much to compare it to, ya know? I'll tell ya what though, I miss the hell out of it. What about you?

Eh, it's not much worth talking about. It's pretty unpleasant. After the bombs dropped, lots of radiation and mutants.

[She moves away from the scrap.] I can help you build a forge sometime. It'd be fun.

Wow. Sounds like ya come from a real amusement park of a world.

Yeah? I'd love to have some help on it. Here. [He pulls some sketches out from under some junk.] This is what I was working on initally.

[She examines them carefully.]

This would certainly work. It's really too bad they don't have fusion here, we could make it half the size and a hundred times more efficient . . .

[mutters on about fusion and plasma.]

[He laughs at that.] Don't go too crazy! We don't got a lot to work with 'round here.

Yeah, it's just unfortunate. At least we have electricity.
